yeah how is a rich woman gonna talk about wage equality to a bunch of other rich people and get a standing ovation while winning an award literally plated in pure gold at an awards show where she is gonna walk away with a 100,000+ dollar goodie bag ??????? this does not make much sense 2 me honestly women are dying n u wanna talk about wage equality within the entertainment industry?????? when as a white woman she gets paid better than everyone besides white men???????????
Uh, right, because how DARE someone with privilege speak out against injustice? It’s not like one person can fix all of society’s ills, but at least she did something. Would it be better to just say, “Thank you, I deserve this,” and then go sit back down? Yeah, there is always more to do. There are always groups on whose behalf we can advocate. But it isn’t WRONG to point out problems that exist just because there are other bigger problems. I mean if I get mugged I will report it to the police and cooperate to ID the perpetrator EVEN THOUGH there are other people who are committing murders!
